When we were approached by Melbourne-based studio Ellul Architecture to design a light, the brief was clear — develop a multifunctional light that utilises off-the-shelf components and can be simply assembled and disassembled to function. In response, we designed TUC. A lamp that comes apart and back together by hand and can function on either a table or a wall.
Angled aluminium and aluminium sheet are fixed to a digitally printed lamp housing. The pleated diffuser is printed in a glass-like biodegradable PLA with internal fixing positions that bring components together. With the feet installed, TUC acts as a table lamp; with them removed, slotted cuts on the back let it hang flat as a wall lamp.
TUC was made as a limited run for Ellul Architecture. In 2025 TUC was shown in 100 Lights, a Friends & Associates exhibition that brought together work from more than 100 Australian designers and studios for Melbourne Design Week.
